Job Description

Overview

  • Lead and oversee safety initiatives within the organization, ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering a strong safety culture.
  • Develop and implement corporate safety programs, policies, and procedures to enhance workplace safety standards.
  • Collaborate with leadership to assess safety needs and integrate them into organizational goals and strategies.
  • Provide expert guidance and training to safety personnel, ensuring their professional development and effectiveness.
  • Analyze safety data to identify trends, address challenges, and improve overall safety performance.
  • Lead crisis response and incident investigations, ensuring thorough analysis and appropriate corrective actions.
  • Serve as a technical resource for safety-related matters, providing support to project teams and subcontractors.
  • Promote a culture of safety through effective communication, training, and recognition of outstanding safety practices.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage direct reports, conducting performance evaluations and providing career development guidance.
  • Assess and address training needs for safety personnel, ensuring their readiness for project requirements.
  • Evaluate safety inspection systems and implement improvements to enhance effectiveness.
  • Analyze hazard and incident data to identify trends and develop targeted safety initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate safety regulations and procedures.
  • Lead safety planning during preconstruction processes and subcontractor meetings.
  • Deliver safety communications, presentations, and training sessions to large audiences.
  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies, subcontractors, and peer professionals to maintain positive relationships.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Professional safety designations such as CHST, CSP, or OSHA certifications preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of construction safety experience; 9 years preferred.
  • Strong technical writing, verbal communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks across diverse geographic areas.
  • Proficient in analyzing safety data and implementing corrective measures.
  • Experience in leading emergency or crisis conditions effectively.
  • Willingness to adapt to flexible schedules and work under various site conditions.
