Job Description

Overview

  • Provide essential speech-language therapy services to students, fostering their communication skills and overall development in a supportive educational setting.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans tailored to each student's unique needs and progress.
  • Collaborate closely with educators, parents, and other professionals to ensure effective therapy outcomes and holistic student support.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices and enhance your expertise.
  • Contribute to a dynamic and inclusive special education program, enriching the learning environment for all students.
  • Ensure compliance with Individualized Education Program (IEP) mandates, maintaining high standards of care and documentation.
  • Offer bilingual services if applicable, supporting diverse populations and enhancing communication effectiveness.
  • Work on-site during school hours, Monday through Friday, providing consistent and reliable therapy services.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' speech-language skills to identify therapy needs and set goals.
  • Deliver therapy services as outlined in the IEP, adapting techniques to individual student requirements.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of therapy sessions, progress, and outcomes.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates and involve them in the therapy process.
  • Collaborate with educational staff during team meetings to align therapy goals with academic objectives.
  • Deliver in-service training sessions to enhance staff understanding of speech-language therapy practices.
  • Participate in supervision and feedback sessions to refine skills and ensure quality service delivery.
  • Adapt therapy methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and developmental stages.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Certification as a Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped or equivalent; professional license preferred.
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting, ideally in speech-language therapy.
  • Bilingual proficiency is advantageous but not mandatory for the role.
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills to manage therapy plans effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, fostering positive relationships.
