Job Description
Overview
- Provide occupational therapy services to adults and geriatric patients in multiple locations.
- Evaluate and treat patients requiring sensorimotor rehabilitation and activities for daily living training.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement therapy plans.
- Supervise Occupational Therapist Assistants and students from affiliate colleges.
- Travel between designated sites to provide therapy services as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of patient progress and interventions.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as required.
- Comply with agency requirements for outcome measures and efficiency levels.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Perform patient evaluations to determine sensorimotor and perceptual motor functions.
- Develop and implement therapy plans based on patient needs and rehabilitation goals.
- Select activities to enhance work and life-management skills within patient capabilities.
- Prepare detailed progress reports and recommend changes to therapy plans as needed.
- Communicate therapeutic procedures to patients, families, and staff members.
- Coordinate therapy activities with other rehabilitation programs.
- Provide semi-annual in-service training to staff regarding occupational therapy practices.
- Consult with equipment technicians and adaptive equipment dealers to meet patient needs.
- Travel to multiple sites to perform therapy services and maintain efficiency levels.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent education and experience.
- Certification by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Valid New York State License/Certification in Occupational Therapy.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in occupational therapy.
- Ability to travel between designated sites as required.
- Strong communication skills to interact with patients, families, and staff.
- Experience supervising assistants and students in a clinical setting.
- Proficiency in maintaining detailed patient records and progress reports.
