Job Description

Overview

  • Lead the operational and clinical management of surgical services in a high-paced healthcare environment.
  • Manage a team of over 200 staff members, including assistant nurse managers, ensuring efficient operations.
  • Oversee compliance with departmental policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based clinical practices and management strategies.
  • Promote customer satisfaction and quality improvement initiatives within the surgical services unit.
  • Collaborate with renowned surgeons and anesthesiologists in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment.
  • Support the growth of new programs and business initiatives within the surgical services department.
  • Utilize advanced surgical technologies and treatments to enhance patient care.
  • Work in a Magnet-certified hospital recognized for excellence in nursing care.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Hire, train, and manage staff performance, ensuring alignment with operational goals.
  • Develop and adhere to departmental budgets, responding to business changes effectively.
  • Direct the delivery of safe and appropriate patient care based on evidence-based practices.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and professional standards within the unit.
  • Promote customer satisfaction and oversee quality improvement plans and outcomes.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement systems to improve operational efficiency.
  • Support the development and expansion of existing or new business programs.
  • Collaborate with academic partners to enhance clinical and operational practices.
  • Maintain up-to-date policies and procedures, participating in revisions as necessary.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; advanced degrees preferred.
  • Active RN license with 3-5 years of clinical experience in surgical services.
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience; 5 years preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage large teams and complex operations effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based clinical practices and healthcare regulations.
  • Experience with budget management and financial oversight in healthcare settings.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to drive team performance.
