Overview
- Manage financial reporting and budgeting for assigned properties, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and organizational goals.
- Collaborate with property managers to analyze monthly financial results and address operational issues effectively.
- Prepare accurate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Lead the budgeting process, ensuring timely completion and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Coordinate year-end audits, preparing necessary documentation and supporting external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with NYC real estate tax filing requirements, including RPIE and tax challenge forms.
- Support operational efficiency by performing administrative and accounting tasks as needed.
- Contribute to a collaborative and productive work environment within the accounting team.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Prepare and review financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and tax basis standards.
- Review and approve accounts payable coding for assigned properties, ensuring proper allocation.
- Collaborate with property managers to address financial and operational challenges.
- Lead and manage the budgeting process, tracking deliverables and ensuring timely completion.
- Coordinate year-end audits, preparing work papers and reviewing draft financial statements.
- Prepare NYC filing requirements, including real estate tax challenges and RPIE forms.
- Perform additional administrative and accounting tasks to support departmental operations.
- Maintain effective communication with stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; CPA certification is preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Property Accountant, with expertise in financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and MRI software is essential.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills to support decision-making processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment, balancing on-site and remote responsibilities.
- Knowledge of NYC real estate tax filing requirements and related forms is advantageous.
