Job Description

Overview

  • Manage financial reporting and budgeting for assigned properties, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with property managers to analyze monthly financial results and address operational issues effectively.
  • Prepare accurate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Lead the budgeting process, ensuring timely completion and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Coordinate year-end audits, preparing necessary documentation and supporting external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with NYC real estate tax filing requirements, including RPIE and tax challenge forms.
  • Support operational efficiency by performing administrative and accounting tasks as needed.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and productive work environment within the accounting team.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare and review financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and tax basis standards.
  • Review and approve accounts payable coding for assigned properties, ensuring proper allocation.
  • Collaborate with property managers to address financial and operational challenges.
  • Lead and manage the budgeting process, tracking deliverables and ensuring timely completion.
  • Coordinate year-end audits, preparing work papers and reviewing draft financial statements.
  • Prepare NYC filing requirements, including real estate tax challenges and RPIE forms.
  • Perform additional administrative and accounting tasks to support departmental operations.
  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; CPA certification is preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Property Accountant, with expertise in financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and MRI software is essential.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills to support decision-making processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment, balancing on-site and remote responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of NYC real estate tax filing requirements and related forms is advantageous.
