Job Description

Overview

  • Lead and oversee nursing operations within Surgical Services, ensuring exceptional patient care and adherence to clinical standards.
  • Develop and implement policies to enhance operational efficiency and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction across Operating Room and Ambulatory Surgery Unit.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to nursing staff, fostering professional growth and development opportunities.
  • Evaluate and address nursing needs, ensuring proper resource allocation and patient assignment.
  • Organize and lead in-service programs to introduce current clinical practices and promote staff education.
  • Ensure availability and functionality of supplies and emergency equipment for seamless operations.
  • Contribute to policy development and implementation to enhance operational effectiveness and patient care quality.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assess nursing needs using the nursing process to ensure high-quality patient care delivery.
  • Prepare patient assignments based on staff expertise and classifications for optimal care provision.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to enhance patient care quality and satisfaction.
  • Promote patient advocacy and satisfaction, addressing concerns effectively and empathetically.
  • Support orientation of new personnel and identify ongoing learning needs among staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback for professional growth.
  • Monitor compliance with patient care standards and investigate safety concerns proactively.
  • Enhance operational efficiency within the Operating Room and Ambulatory Surgery Unit through strategic initiatives.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required; national professional certification preferred.
  • Licensed and registered under the laws of the State of New York.
  • Minimum of three years of progressive experience in Operating Room management.
  • Exceptional leadership and organizational skills to manage staff and resources effectively.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hospital policies, procedures, and compliance standards.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement policies for operational efficiency and patient care enhancement.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for effective multidisciplinary teamwork.
