Overview
- Lead strategic tax planning and research initiatives within a dynamic corporate tax department.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to establish and achieve strategic tax goals.
- Drive process improvements and technology changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Oversee tax compliance, financial reporting, and policyholder reporting requirements.
- Engage with industry groups on tax legislative and technical issues.
- Present tax issues and opportunities to stakeholders, including senior leadership and the board.
- Foster team development through staffing, training, and leadership initiatives.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop and implement strategic tax planning initiatives to optimize organizational tax obligations.
- Lead financial planning and analysis activities for the tax department.
- Collaborate with legal and operations teams on compliance matters.
- Address emerging tax-related financial reporting issues effectively.
- Coordinate with industry groups to address legislative and technical tax issues.
- Present tax strategies and updates to senior leadership and board members.
- Drive team development through training and leadership initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and reporting requirements.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, preferably in the insurance industry.
- Advanced degrees such as JD or MST are preferred but not essential.
- Proven experience in large accounting or law firms is highly valued.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and project management capabilities.
- Ability to lead and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
