Job Description

Overview

  • Lead strategic tax planning and research initiatives within a dynamic corporate tax department.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to establish and achieve strategic tax goals.
  • Drive process improvements and technology changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Oversee tax compliance, financial reporting, and policyholder reporting requirements.
  • Engage with industry groups on tax legislative and technical issues.
  • Present tax issues and opportunities to stakeholders, including senior leadership and the board.
  • Foster team development through staffing, training, and leadership initiatives.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and implement strategic tax planning initiatives to optimize organizational tax obligations.
  • Lead financial planning and analysis activities for the tax department.
  • Collaborate with legal and operations teams on compliance matters.
  • Address emerging tax-related financial reporting issues effectively.
  • Coordinate with industry groups to address legislative and technical tax issues.
  • Present tax strategies and updates to senior leadership and board members.
  • Drive team development through training and leadership initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and reporting requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, preferably in the insurance industry.
  • Advanced degrees such as JD or MST are preferred but not essential.
  • Proven experience in large accounting or law firms is highly valued.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and project management capabilities.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
