Overview

  • Join a dynamic university environment as a Payroll Specialist on a contract basis.
  • Assist in processing payroll for union and hourly employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Gain hands-on experience with payroll systems and administrative processes.
  • Work on-site five days a week, contributing to a collaborative team.
  • Receive comprehensive training, including Banner Administrative System usage.
  • Engage in a role with potential for extension beyond the initial six weeks.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare and process payroll for union and hourly employees, ensuring timely completion.
  • Maintain accurate employee data within payroll and HR systems.
  • Assist with reconciling payroll reports and preparing financial journals.
  • Address payroll-related inquiries from employees regarding pay and deductions.
  • Support year-end payroll tasks and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve payroll processes and efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to university policies and relevant legislation in payroll operations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree required, preferably in Finance or related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year payroll experience; 3 years preferred.
  • Basic understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and accounts payable principles.
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial systems; training provided for Banner Administrative System.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to work on-site, adhering to a 9-to-5 schedule with an hour lunch.
