Overview
- Manage infection control programs, ensuring compliance with health regulations and standards.
- Coordinate orientation and training for new nursing staff, ensuring competency.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to enhance infection prevention strategies.
- Monitor and analyze infection data, reporting findings to relevant authorities.
- Lead educational initiatives on infection control practices for all staff.
- Facilitate compliance with DOH and JCAHO standards during surveys.
- Participate in quality improvement committees and antibiotic stewardship programs.
- Coordinate vaccination programs for residents and employees.
- Maintain professional development through seminars and workshops.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Oversee infection control programs, including outbreak response and immunization coordination.
- Develop and update infection control policies and procedures.
- Coordinate infection control committee meetings and follow up on concerns.
- Provide staff education on infection prevention and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with clinical leaders to address performance improvement needs.
- Ensure compliance with DOH and JCAHO standards during inspections.
- Monitor and report infection statistics to relevant authorities.
- Facilitate student nurse clinical learning experiences with external agencies.
- Act as a resource for continuing education activities for staff.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Current Registered Professional Nurse license in New York State.
- Specialized training in infection prevention and control.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in infection control management.
- APIC certification preferred or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of DOH and JCAHO regulations.
- Proficiency in performance improvement and quality assurance processes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- BCLS certification required.
