Job Description

Overview

  • Manage accounting activities and reporting functions for commercial properties, ensuring compliance with financial standards and operational requirements.
  • Prepare financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, for assigned properties.
  • Conduct monthly general ledger account analyses, reconciliations, and bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Perform monthly and annual closings, including partner reports and compliance filings.
  • Assist in budget preparation, forecasts, and year-end audited financial statements.
  • Support internal and external audits, providing necessary financial data and documentation.
  • Collaborate with property management and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Utilize accounting software, including Yardi Voyager, for fixed asset classification and depreciation reviews.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and financial statements for assigned properties.
  • Perform account analyses, reconciliations, and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with sales tax returns and mortgage reporting requirements.
  • Assist in quarterly forecasts and annual budget preparations.
  • Develop financial operating reports and support analytical studies.
  • Collaborate with auditors during annual and interim audits.
  • Provide financial data support to corporate departments and property management teams.
  • Perform special accounting studies and interact with building ownership.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience; 5 years preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • Experience with Yardi Voyager software preferred.
  • CPA certification preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative accounting skills.
