Job Description

Overview

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans for students with speech and language needs.
  • Provide direct therapy services to students as mandated on their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Collaborate with colleagues during team meetings to ensure cohesive care plans.
  • Offer parent training sessions and maintain ongoing communication with families.
  • Participate in staff development activities and provide in-service training.
  • Complete required documentation and paperwork accurately and promptly.
  • Work on-site following the school calendar schedule, Monday to Friday.
  • Contribute to a nurturing and vibrant special education preschool environment.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assess students' speech-language skills to determine therapy needs.
  • Provide high-quality speech therapy services as outlined in IEPs.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support student development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents to support therapy goals.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of therapy sessions.
  • Participate in professional development and training activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Support the overall mission of the special education preschool program.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field.
  • New York State Certification as Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped or equivalent.
  • Professional license as a Speech-Language Pathologist in New York State.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in speech-language therapy.
  • Strong knowledge of IEPs and special education processes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
