Job Description
Overview
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for students with speech and language needs in a special education preschool setting.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care and support for students' developmental goals.
- Provide direct speech therapy services aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills and stay updated on best practices.
- Engage in parent training sessions to foster effective communication strategies at home.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of therapy sessions and progress reports.
- Contribute to a nurturing and dynamic learning environment for preschool students.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Assess students' speech and language skills to identify therapy needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.
- Deliver high-quality speech therapy services in accordance with IEP requirements and professional standards.
- Collaborate with educators and therapists during team meetings to discuss student progress and strategies.
- Provide training and support to parents, ensuring continuity of therapy practices at home.
- Complete all required documentation, including progress notes, reports, and compliance paperwork.
- Participate in staff development activities and in-service training sessions to enhance professional knowledge.
- Meet regularly with supervisors to review therapy plans and receive guidance.
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and/or New York State Professional License as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- New York State Certificate as a Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped or Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities.
- Minimum of one year of experience in speech therapy, preferably in a school or pediatric setting.
- Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation processes.
- Proficiency in assessing and treating a variety of speech and language disorders.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
