Job Description

Overview

  • Provide comprehensive medical care to patients under physician supervision, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and high-quality healthcare standards.
  • Conduct patient assessments, including histories and physical examinations, to develop effective treatment plans and health maintenance strategies.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to diagnose and treat common illnesses and injuries, following established protocols.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory studies, imaging, and EKGs, to support clinical decision-making.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments for acute and chronic conditions, ensuring compliance with medical guidelines and patient safety.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs, contributing to continuous improvement in patient care and clinical outcomes.
  • Educate patients and staff on health management, disease prevention, and treatment protocols to enhance healthcare delivery.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records, ensuring compliance with documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Engage in professional development activities to stay current with advancements in medical practice and patient care.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform clinical procedures within scope of practice, ensuring patient safety and adherence to medical protocols.

  • Collaborate with supervising physicians to review treatment plans and referrals, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and committees to contribute to organizational goals and patient care strategies.
  • Provide guidance and education to patients regarding health management, treatment adherence, and preventive care.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary, maintaining communication with healthcare teams.
  • Ensure compliance with medical staff bylaws, policies, and procedures during clinical practice.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to enhanced patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain professional certifications and licensure, adhering to state and national regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, with 3 years preferred.
  • Active California Physician Assistant License and NCCPA certification are mandatory.
  • Current AHA BLS or ACLS certification is required for patient care activities.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare teams.
  • Proficiency in ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and developing treatment plans.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and professional development.
  • Physical ability to perform clinical duties, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
