Job Description

Overview

  • Lead tax engagements for high-net-worth individuals, families, and related entities.
  • Collaborate with a team of professionals in a flexible and diverse environment.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff members.
  • Engage in tax planning, advisory, and compliance activities.
  • Work on complex tax engagements, including multi-state and international filings.
  • Contribute to practice development and business growth initiatives.
  • Utilize advanced software and workflows to optimize processes.
  • Participate in consulting projects and special assignments.
  • Support employee training and career development programs.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee tax engagements from planning to delivery, ensuring quality and timeliness.
  • Prepare and review complex tax returns, extensions, and planning calculations.
  • Conduct tax research and draft memorandums outlining findings and conclusions.
  • Communicate with IRS and state agencies regarding audits and inquiries.
  • Delegate projects effectively and provide assistance to staff as needed.
  • Engage in business development activities, including client meetings and proposals.
  • Assist with employee training and provide career guidance.
  • Report to tax department partners and contribute to departmental goals.
  • Lead consulting projects and special assignments for management and clients.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting required.
  • CPA certification or EA designation is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 5 years of public accounting experience; 9 years preferred.
  • Expertise in individual, corporate, and partnership taxation.
  • Experience with multi-state and international tax filings.
  • Proficiency in tax software and workflow optimization tools.
  • Strong communication skills for client and team interactions.
  • Ability to mentor and train junior staff effectively.
  • Located in NY/NJ area preferred; remote candidates considered.
