Overview
- Provide advanced litigation support in complex civil cases, managing case files from inception through trial and appeal.
- Coordinate discovery processes, draft and file court documents, and conduct legal research to support attorneys.
- Assist in trial preparation, including creating case chronologies, exhibits, and managing post-trial procedures.
- Act as a procedural resource on court rules, requirements, and best practices for litigation processes.
- Mentor junior paralegals and contribute to team development and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with attorneys and other staff to ensure efficient case management and adherence to deadlines.
- Work in a hybrid environment with mandatory on-site presence on Wednesdays.
- Engage in high-volume, deadline-driven tasks within a fast-paced law firm setting.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage case files, including document production, deposition preparation, and trial participation.
- Conduct extensive legal and factual research to support case strategies and outcomes.
- Draft and file court documents using systems like Pacer ECF and NYS Court Filings.
- Prepare case chronologies, exhibits, and evidence for mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
- Collaborate with attorneys and case teams during trial preparation and post-trial procedures.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior paralegals, fostering professional growth.
- Utilize and learn databases such as Relativity and TextMap for case management.
- Ensure confidentiality, discretion, and solid judgment in all aspects of work.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in litigation, ideally within mid to large-sized law firms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and court filing systems like Pacer ECF and NYS Court Filings.
- Experience with trial preparation and participation, including managing exhibits and evidence.
- Strong research, proofreading, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to learn and utilize case-specific databases like Relativity and TextMap.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
