Job Description

Overview

  • Provide essential support to physicians and clinical staff in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Perform routine clinical and clerical tasks to ensure efficient patient care.
  • Document patient medications, vitals, and visit reasons using EMR systems.
  • Assist in patient preparation for exams and special procedures.
  • Conduct screening and measuring procedures, including vital signs and laboratory specimen collection.
  • Maintain exam room cleanliness and medical inventory supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA guidelines at all times.
  • Perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments and answering phones.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Place patients in examination rooms and document relevant medical information.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and enter orders into EMR for review.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, and instructions to patients effectively.
  • Clean and sterilize medical instruments and dispose of supplies as per regulations.
  • Ensure adequate medical inventory and prepare rooms for specific procedures.
  • Follow patient flow and visit completion protocols accurately.
  • Create and update telephone encounters for patient medical concerns.
  • Adhere to high standards of communication, multitasking, and professionalism.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; graduate of accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience; 3 years preferred for optimal performance.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and EMR software essential.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high-stress environment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA guidelines for compliance.
