Job Description

Overview

  • Lead tax compliance and advisory services for diverse clients in a hybrid work environment.
  • Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations.
  • Analyze and compute gains on property sales, including multi-state considerations.
  • Provide proactive tax planning strategies and identify savings opportunities for clients.
  • Collaborate with clients to explain complex tax matters and solutions effectively.
  • Utilize advanced tax software for preparation, review, and workflow optimization.
  • Contribute to a professional and collaborative work environment with opportunities for growth.
  • Engage in year-end tax projections and planning strategies for diverse entities.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations.
  • Handle Pass-Through Entity Tax (PTET) calculations and compliance strategies.
  • Analyze and compute gains on property sales, including multi-state considerations.
  • Determine and maintain accurate tax basis calculations across entities and transactions.
  • Manage multi-state tax apportionment, nexus analysis, and composite filings.
  • Respond to IRS and state tax notices, audits, and amended return filings.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients and lead communications.
  • Review work of junior staff and provide technical guidance and mentorship.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Accounting or related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years of public accounting tax experience; 7 years preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and New York State taxation regulations.
  • Proficiency in CCH tax software and advanced tax computation methods.
  • CPA certification preferred or actively pursuing CPA designation.
  • Experience with PTET, multi-state taxation, and entity structures.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements, deadlines, and deliverables independently.
