Job Description

Overview

  • Provide essential clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers in a dynamic ambulatory care setting.
  • Assist in the treatment and care of patients, ensuring best-in-class population health practices.
  • Work under the supervision of the Practice Administrator and collaborate with the Nurse Manager.
  • Utilize medical terminology knowledge and customer service skills to enhance patient experiences.
  • Perform direct patient care tasks such as vital signs, phlebotomy, and diagnostic testing.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and data management within electronic medical records.
  • Support patient registration, scheduling, and referral coordination processes.
  • Promote a cooperative and professional work environment while adhering to confidentiality standards.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Greet patients warmly and assist with registration, check-in, and check-out procedures.
  • Monitor patient flow and address service or clinical issues proactively.
  • Schedule appointments accurately and verify insurance coverage as required.
  • Perform direct patient care tasks, including vital signs, phlebotomy, and diagnostic testing.
  • Coordinate referrals to specialists and manage pre- and post-referral communications.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Ensure accurate documentation in electronic medical records and adhere to data integrity standards.
  • Participate in campaigns and initiatives to improve patient care outcomes.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and flexibility in work assignments and patient interactions.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or eligibility for certification within 18 months required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory care setting required.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and data management systems required.
  • Preferred 3 years of experience in a similar role for advanced expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and patient care practices.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to handle patient interactions professionally.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours between 8 AM and 6 PM as needed.
