Job Description
Overview
- Design and develop schematics for drone and peripheral subsystems, focusing on MCU integration, power management, and sensor interfaces.
- Create multi-layer PCB layouts emphasizing signal integrity, EMI mitigation, and thermal performance in compact designs.
- Support communication interfaces including CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, Gigabit Ethernet, and PCIe.
- Conduct DFM and DFA reviews to ensure scalable, production-ready hardware designs.
- Manage component selection, BOM tracking, and qualification of replacement components.
- Coordinate with PCB fabricators and manufacturers during prototyping and inspection processes.
- Collaborate with embedded systems engineers for hardware validation and debugging.
- Maintain organized hardware libraries including schematic symbols and PCB footprints.
- Document design revisions, validation procedures, and engineering changes throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Design and layout multi-layer mixed-signal PCBs with integrated microcontrollers.
- Ensure compliance with IPC standards and high-current PCB layout best practices.
- Collaborate with vendors for stack-up planning, manufacturing reviews, and DRC validation.
- Conduct board bring-up and debugging using oscilloscopes and related lab equipment.
- Manage hardware revisions and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Develop hardware for UAVs, robotics platforms, or battery-powered autonomous systems.
- Integrate PCB designs with mechanical CAD workflows and validate mechanical constraints.
- Perform manual PCB assembly, rework, and in-house hardware modifications.
- Support the lifecycle management of hardware designs and components.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 2+ years of experience designing multi-layer mixed-signal PCBs.
- Proficiency with Altium Designer; experience with KiCad or OrCAD is valued.
- Strong understanding of signal integrity, PDN design, and PCB layout best practices.
- Familiarity with IPC standards and PCB fabrication processes.
- Experience with UAVs, robotics platforms, or battery-powered systems is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with PCB assembly, rework, and debugging tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
