Overview
- Provide comprehensive medical care and health monitoring for individuals with developmental disabilities in a supportive environment.
- Coordinate and assess health needs, ensuring timely follow-up care and documentation of findings.
- Collaborate with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary teams to address individual health concerns.
- Develop and update nursing plans and protocols tailored to individual needs and conditions.
- Supervise medication administration and provide training for staff on medical procedures and protocols.
- Monitor dietary and nutritional needs, ensuring adherence to special meal plans and adaptive equipment usage.
- Participate in clinical reviews and discharge planning to ensure quality care and continuity of services.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA mandates, infection control, and universal precautions.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Coordinate medical care, monitor health status, and arrange follow-up care for individuals.
- Document observations, assessments, and findings, ensuring accurate record-keeping and communication.
- Communicate with healthcare providers, families, and team members regarding individual health concerns.
- Develop and revise nursing plans and protocols to reflect changes in health status.
- Supervise medication administration and conduct training for staff on medical procedures.
- Monitor dietary needs and provide guidance on special meal plans and feeding techniques.
- Participate in discharge planning and clinical reviews to ensure quality care.
- Ensure compliance with infection control guidelines and maintain necessary medical supplies.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and current RN licensure in New York State.
- CPR certification and experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Valid NY State or Tri-State Driver's License with a good driving record.
- Proficiency in developing individual-specific nursing plans and protocols.
- Ability to supervise medication administration and conduct staff training.
- Knowledge of infection control guidelines and compliance with OSHA mandates.
- Experience in clinical reviews and discharge planning processes.
