Job Description

Overview

  • Provide administrative support to the Landlord-Tenant practice group within a litigation department.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of legal documents and templates.
  • Coordinate meetings, hearings, and appointments for attorneys and clients.
  • Manage electronic filing and service of court documents across various jurisdictions.
  • Maintain attorney calendars, deadlines, and litigation schedules effectively.
  • Support invoicing processes by liaising with accounting, clients, and attorneys.
  • Collaborate with clients, court personnel, and other parties involved in litigation.
  • Contribute to a succession plan for the team by learning from experienced staff.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform e-filing of pleadings in state and federal courts in Maryland, DC, and Virginia.
  • Prepare and organize legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate schedules and manage deadlines for litigation activities.
  • Provide administrative support during meetings and hearings.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and external parties regarding case updates.
  • Assist attorneys with document management and litigation software tools.
  • Ensure proper handling of confidential information and sensitive documents.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and provide proactive solutions.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in administrative or secretarial support within a litigation department.
  • Proficiency in e-filing pleadings in state and federal courts.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong knowledge of legal procedures, terminology, and court rules.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Word.
  • Experience with document management and litigation software preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic work environments and manage multiple priorities.
