Overview

  • Support healthcare providers by managing and processing prior authorization requests efficiently and accurately.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Determine eligibility and screen required documents using provided tools for pharmacy prior authorization requests.
  • Organize and distribute authorization requests for pharmacist/physician review and respond to additional information requests.
  • Collect medical information via various channels and apply appropriate criteria, documenting all communications.
  • Ensure timely decision-making and escalate cases requiring pharmacist review as necessary.
  • Communicate authorization outcomes orally and in writing, adhering to standards for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations governing pharmacy operations and authorization processes.
  • Participate in training sessions and maintain adherence to training schedules and protocols.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance operational efficiency and meet organizational goals.

Job Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) from PTCB or NHA.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a pharmacy-related field; 3 years preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required for eligibility.
  • Prior authorization experience and familiarity with remote work environments preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent customer service and phone etiquette.
  • Comfortable in a phone-heavy role; call center experience is a significant advantage.
  • Ability to adhere to training schedules and protocols, including group training sessions.
