Job Description
Overview
- Lead accounting operations for mortgage loan portfolios and warehouse facilities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Oversee transaction processing, month-end close activities, and quarterly reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with finance leadership to enhance reporting workflows and implement process improvements.
- Prepare technical accounting memos for new transactions, pricing, and interest income analysis.
- Support internal and external audits with detailed documentation and analysis.
- Maintain policies and procedures documentation to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- Analyze financial ratios and average balances for quarterly reporting purposes.
- Contribute to the development of internal and external reporting packages, including SEC filings.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Process transactions within subledgers and prepare journal entries and reconciliations.
- Produce and analyze system-generated data reports to ensure accuracy.
- Assist in monthly and quarterly valuations and reporting workflows.
- Prepare internal and external reporting packages for earnings releases and SEC filings.
- Oversee accounts payable processes and maintain controls over expense accruals.
- Lead implementation of impactful accounting projects and initiatives.
- Document quarterly securities interest income and consolidation analysis.
- Provide support for audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business; CPA certification required.
- 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with mortgage loans or securities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Workday or similar systems preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proven ability to drive change and improve processes within accounting functions.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
