Overview
- Provide quality patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse in a collaborative healthcare environment.
- Deliver safe and effective treatments, procedures, and medication administration adhering to New York State regulations.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team to achieve patient care goals and organizational standards.
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as EKGs and phlebotomy to support patient health assessments.
- Assist patients with therapeutic equipment and reinforce its proper usage for optimal recovery.
- Maintain accurate patient records including vital signs, specimen collection, and medication responses.
- Work in a structured schedule with flexibility for occasional weekend shifts.
- Contribute to a supportive and professional healthcare environment at the Family Center of Hyde Park.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Administer medications safely and observe patient responses, adhering to organizational policies.
- Perform therapeutic procedures, including aerosol treatments and patient respiratory support.
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as EKGs and collect blood specimens through phlebotomy.
- Educate patients on therapeutic equipment usage and monitor compliance.
- Document patient care activities, including vital signs, height, weight, and specimen collection.
- Prepare patients for procedures and assist in their recovery processes.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and child abuse prevention standards.
- Collaborate with the care team to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Job Requirements
- Completion of a practical nurse course and current New York State LPN license required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting preferred.
- Proficiency in venipuncture, medication administration, and immunizations.
- Basic computer skills, including typing, and familiarity with electronic medical records.
- Strong clinical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Bilingual Spanish skills are preferred for effective patient communication.
- Current certifications in BCLS, Infection Control, and Child Abuse Prevention required.
- Flexibility to work occasional weekends and adapt to patient care needs.
