Job Description

Overview

  • Lead payroll operations for a dynamic organization, ensuring accurate and timely employee payments while maintaining compliance with payroll regulations.
  • Oversee payroll systems and processes, driving innovation and efficiency in payroll management and administration.
  • Collaborate with People Operations and Finance teams to optimize payroll-related functions and ensure seamless integration.
  • Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures, ensuring strong internal controls and confidentiality of employee data.
  • Provide leadership and training to payroll staff, fostering professional growth and high-performance standards.
  • Stay informed of legislative and regulatory changes affecting payroll practices, ensuring compliance at all levels.
  • Analyze payroll metrics and reports, providing insights to management for strategic decision-making.
  • Support audits and inquiries related to payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage bi-weekly, multi-state payroll processes for a large employee base, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Oversee payroll tax registrations, filings, payments, and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
  • Maintain payroll systems, ensuring data integrity, security, and confidentiality while identifying opportunities for automation.
  • Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries for financial close activities.
  • Train and develop payroll staff, establishing performance goals and ensuring high levels of customer service.
  • Coordinate year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and distribution.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve payroll-related matters efficiently.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to payroll expenses and workforce costs.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with 8+ years of progressive payroll experience.
  • 3+ years of multi-state payroll management and leadership experience.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems like Rippling, ADP, and ERP platforms such as NetSuite or Sage Intacct.
  • Advanced knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and maintain high attention to detail.
  • Preferred certifications: SHRM-CP, Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
  • Ability to travel and work on-site as needed to meet business requirements.
