Job Description

Information Governance Manager Overview

  • The Information Governance Manager oversees the development and implementation of information governance strategies, policies, and best practices for the client.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to enhance information management processes, ensuring proper classification, access, protection, retention, and disposition of information.
  • Evaluates compliance with legal, regulatory, ethical, contractual, and operational requirements to strengthen governance and reduce risks.
  • Leads change management, training, and communication initiatives to promote adoption of governance policies and technologies.
  • Provides consultative support to legal and administrative professionals on governance practices and information management solutions.
  • Tracks performance indicators and prepares executive-level reporting to assess program effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Supports requirements associated with legal holds, investigations, and regulatory matters in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Promotes the effectiveness of governance controls, including access restrictions, ethical walls, retention enforcement, and disposition workflows.
  • Advises on governance requirements to comply with confidential information, ethical screens, and information access controls.

Information Governance Manager Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and execute the client’s information governance strategy and program, ensuring alignment with operational and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with administration, practice groups, and technology teams to design solutions that improve governance and lifecycle management.
  • Lead training and communication initiatives to promote adoption of governance policies and technologies.
  • Provide guidance to stakeholders on governance practices and solutions for effective information management.
  • Identify and assess governance risks, recommending improvements to mitigate risks and enhance compliance.
  • Support legal holds, investigations, and regulatory matters by collaborating with relevant departments.
  • Track and report key performance indicators to evaluate program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Promote effective use of information management technologies to enhance governance capabilities and adoption.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support governance objectives.

Information Governance Manager Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Library Science, or related field; advanced degree or certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in records management, governance, compliance, or related fields, with supervisory experience.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic records management systems and document management platforms.
  • Background in professional services or legal environments with complex governance requirements preferred.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and creation of policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Strong understanding of records management principles and IT security control methodologies.
  • Proven ability to analyze situations, evaluate solutions, and implement innovative approaches.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Availability to work additional hours as needed to meet governance objectives.
