Job Description

Chief Medical Officer Overview

  • The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) oversees clinical care, operations leadership, and behavioral health initiatives within a healthcare organization.
  • Provides strategic direction to ensure high-quality, comprehensive primary and behavioral healthcare services.
  • Collaborates with the CEO and leadership team to align clinical operations with organizational goals.
  • Maintains a direct patient care role at 0.3 FTE, ensuring hands-on involvement in clinical services.
  • Leads quality management initiatives to enhance care delivery and patient outcomes.
  • Supervises medical providers, including physicians and nurse practitioners, fostering professional growth and collaboration.
  • Supports the integration of medical and behavioral health teams for holistic patient care.
  • Contributes to the growth and development of pharmacy programs within the organization.

Chief Medical Officer Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide clinical leadership and strategic direction for healthcare services and operations.
  • Supervise and collaborate with medical providers, ensuring effective team dynamics and patient care.
  • Develop and implement quality management plans to enhance clinical outcomes.
  • Oversee behavioral health programs, promoting integration with medical services.
  • Facilitate the growth and expansion of pharmacy services within the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards of practice.
  • Provide direct patient care services to maintain clinical expertise and connection to patient needs.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and executive team on organizational strategy and decision-making.

Chief Medical Officer Job Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree required.
  • Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Valid medical license in the state of Ohio.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a healthcare leadership role.
  • Experience in Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) preferred.
  • Proven track record in quality improvement and integrated care models.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to manage multidisciplinary teams.
