Job Description

Tax Manager Overview

  • The Tax Manager role involves managing tax compliance and planning for investment fund structures and joint venture arrangements.
  • Support tax functions for a growing alternative asset manager focused on energy investments.
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting.
  • Oversee partnership allocations and investor tax reporting, including Schedule K-1s.
  • Assist in tax planning initiatives across fund and management company entities.
  • Work within a hybrid environment, combining remote and on-site collaboration.
  • Leverage your expertise in partnership taxation and multi-entity investment vehicles.
  • Contribute to the success of a dynamic and experienced team of professionals.

Tax Manager Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage joint ventures in oil and gas, supporting portfolio company activities and transaction processes.
  • Review partnership returns, K-1 packages, corporate returns, and earnings and profits calculations.
  • Coordinate outsourced tax compliance functions to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare forecasts of taxable income and tax holdbacks on distributions.
  • Compile and maintain fund statistical analyses and develop tax dashboards.
  • Respond to investor tax-related queries and due diligence questionnaires.
  • Support quarterly estimate, extension, and return payments processes.
  • Perform ad hoc analyses and contribute to internal reporting initiatives.

Tax Manager Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in partnership taxation and investment fund structures.
  • Preferred 8 years of experience, with exposure to energy-focused investments.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and ability to navigate multi-entity investment vehicles.
  • Experience working within asset management, private equity, or investment platforms.
  • Proficiency in managing tax compliance and planning initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of partnership tax concepts and joint venture arrangements.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment combining remote and on-site collaboration.
