Job Description

Pharmacy Technician Overview

  • The Pharmacy Technician role involves supporting medication counseling and adherence efforts remotely.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, providers, and community partners to ensure effective medication management.
  • Provide assistance in minimizing gaps in treatment and preventing medication-related adverse events.
  • Facilitate member access to medications, including refills, new prescriptions, and financial assistance.
  • Perform health assessments to identify barriers to medication adherence and propose solutions.
  • Document care delivered and communicate relevant information to healthcare providers.
  • Operate remotely during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5:30 PM.
  • This position is open to entry-level candidates with a mature and proactive approach.

Pharmacy Technician Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Review medication lists to eliminate barriers to therapy and ensure proper adherence.
  • Facilitate member access to medications through refills, new prescriptions, and financial assistance.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare teams to integrate medication therapy management interventions.
  • Partner with community pharmacies to monitor and communicate medication adherence.
  • Conduct health assessments to collect information on patient medication profiles and identify adherence barriers.
  • Handle member and provider communications telephonically and document interactions professionally.
  • Align medication refills to reduce pharmacy visit frequency and improve adherence.
  • Support the broader healthcare management services through effective communication and coordination.

Pharmacy Technician Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; 2 years preferred.
  • Nationally certified Pharmacy Technician or registered/licensed Pharmacy Technician in good standing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for professional interactions.
  • Experience communicating with patients, providers, and pharmacists on medication-related issues.
  • Ability to work independently and hit the ground running in a remote environment.
  • Familiarity with medication therapy management and adherence strategies.
  • Proficiency in documenting care and communicating effectively with healthcare teams.
