Registered Nurse Overview

Registered Nurse Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Deliver direct nursing care, performing procedures and utilizing equipment according to accepted standards.
  • Assess clients within specified timeframes and maintain ongoing evaluations for comprehensive care planning.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary services and ensure accurate documentation of nursing activities.
  • Provide client education on HIV/AIDS prevention, transmission, and risk reduction strategies.
  • Administer STAT medications and inoculations, ensuring compliance with physician directives.
  • Conduct group sessions for clients and caregivers, offering training and support tailored to health needs.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs and evaluate nursing standards for effectiveness.
  • Act as liaison to families and caregivers, facilitating communication and coordination of care.
  • Support advocacy initiatives aimed at addressing homelessness and AIDS-related challenges.

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse license in the State of New York is required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience; 2 years preferred.
  • Experience with HIV/AIDS care, substance use, or mental health is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in administering injections and working in demanding healthcare environments.
  • Familiarity with primary care and electronic medical records systems is beneficial.
  • Bilingual capabilities in Spanish and English are preferred.
  • Strong commitment to interdisciplinary care planning and patient advocacy.
