Director of Nursing Emergency Room Overview

  • The Director of Nursing Emergency Room oversees clinical, operational, and fiscal performance of emergency services to ensure excellence in patient care and outcomes.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term strategies aligned with organizational goals for emergency services operations.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical care standards while maintaining accountability for staffing, quality, safety, and service excellence.
  • Support nursing professional practice and evidence-based leadership within the emergency department.
  • Respond to patient and physician complaints, ensuring resolution and maintaining satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop solutions impacting organizational operations and processes.
  • Lead performance improvement initiatives and oversee regulatory readiness preparations.
  • Mentor and coach leadership teams on resource management, personnel management, and change initiatives.
  • Promote evidence-based research and shared governance within the emergency services team.

Director of Nursing Emergency Room Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution required.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license within the state of practice mandatory.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in critical care nursing and emergency services.
  • Preferred 5 years of experience in director-level roles within acute care settings.
  • Certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS (within 6 months of hire), and TNCC (within 1 year of hire).
  • Proficiency in English communication, both verbal and written; additional language skills preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with healthcare systems and software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish effective relationships with patients, families, and internal partners.
  • Ability to lead and inspire teams, ensuring alignment with organizational vision and values.
