Job Description

Vice President Investment Accounting Overview

  • The Vice President Investment Accounting will lead the Investment Accounting team, ensuring excellence in accounting, reporting, and analytical infrastructure for a global investment platform.
  • Serve as a key accounting partner to investment and operating teams, overseeing transaction structuring, revenue recognition, and portfolio activity analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate complex transactions and deliver scalable solutions to accounting and operational challenges.
  • Shape policies, controls, technology, analytics, and operating processes to enhance the platform's efficiency and scalability.
  • Develop a high-performing team culture focused on ownership, judgment, and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to strategic priorities and initiatives, ensuring consistency and excellence across the global platform.
  • Provide decision-useful analysis and reporting to senior leadership, Investor Relations, and Portfolio Management.
  • Lead transformation initiatives, including workflow redesign, automation opportunities, and system implementations.
  • Act as a trusted coordinator across Investment Operations and external fund administrators to resolve complex issues.

Vice President Investment Accounting Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Investment Accounting team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Drive consistency and knowledge sharing across global teams in New York, London, and Mumbai.
  • Review credit terms, fee structures, and syndication mechanics to ensure accurate accounting and revenue recognition.
  • Oversee daily P&L drivers and escalate emerging issues to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Accounting, Tax, Compliance, and Legal teams to resolve accounting considerations ahead of transaction closing.
  • Oversee monthly and quarterly reporting deliverables and advance analytics and dashboards.
  • Lead technology and transformation initiatives to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Evaluate existing processes and design solutions to strengthen controls and reduce operational risk.
  • Represent Investment Accounting in cross-functional initiatives to drive strategic priorities.

Vice President Investment Accounting Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline required; CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in investment accounting, public accounting, or related financial services; alternatives experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of alternative investments and transaction structures, particularly private credit.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and drive high-quality execution.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency; experience with Power BI, Alteryx, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in improving processes, controls, reporting, or technology.
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Experience in designing scalable solutions that support growth and reduce operational risk.
  • Ability to assess complex accounting considerations and deliver scalable solutions.
