Business Development Manager Overview

  • The Business Development Manager will drive strategic growth in engineering services, focusing on government, mission-critical, and science & technology sectors.
  • Identify and secure large-scale engineering facility design opportunities by leveraging technical expertise and fostering client partnerships.
  • Act as a bridge between multidisciplinary capabilities and complex infrastructure needs, ensuring successful project lifecycle navigation.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective projects by monitoring market activity and client investment plans.
  • Collaborate with developers, architects, contractors, and strategic partners to position the firm for upcoming opportunities.
  • Participate in conventions, conferences, and trade shows to enhance industry presence and networking.
  • Contribute to branding, marketing materials, and proposal development to support organizational goals.
  • Work in a hybrid environment, balancing remote and onsite engagements to optimize performance and collaboration.

Business Development Manager Key Responsibilities & Duties

Business Development Manager Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university, preferably in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in technical sales, preferably within the A/E/C industry.
  • Proven success in business-to-business sales and revenue generation.
  • Knowledge of engineering, design, and construction practices or ability to learn technical concepts.
  • Strong communication, listening, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to travel locally up to 50% of the time for client engagements.
  • Experience with CRM systems and pursuit tracking for strategic decision-making.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and capable of working under pressure to meet objectives.
