Director of Tax – Advisory Overview

  • The Director of Tax – Advisory will lead tax planning and wealth strategy initiatives for ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families.
  • Collaborate with advisors to deliver sophisticated tax-aware planning and financial strategies tailored to client needs.
  • Develop scalable frameworks, tools, and deliverables to enhance planning consistency and quality across the firm.
  • Participate in direct client engagements, translating complex tax issues into actionable recommendations.
  • Curate and strengthen networks of preferred external advisors to support client referrals and resources.
  • Author thought leadership content to educate internal teams and clients on emerging tax and planning trends.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver training programs and maintain advisors' expertise on legislative developments.
  • Contribute to the firm's growth by shaping the Wealth Strategies platform and expanding service offerings.

Director of Tax – Advisory Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Serve as the senior tax planning expert, providing strategic guidance on complex client matters.
  • Collaborate with advisors to identify opportunities, evaluate alternatives, and develop planning strategies.
  • Review and analyze client tax returns and planning documents to identify risks and considerations.
  • Advise on individual income tax planning, trust and estate taxation, and cross-border tax considerations.

Director of Tax – Advisory Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree required; advanced credentials such as CPA, JD/LL.M., or Master's in Taxation preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience advising high-net-worth individuals and families; 12 years preferred.
  • Expertise in individual income tax planning, trust and estate taxation, and business-owner planning.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance, lending, liquidity, and family office planning issues.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, simplifying complex topics for diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines and advisor teams effectively.
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop innovative planning solutions for sophisticated client scenarios.
  • Existing professional networks among tax, legal, and planning professionals are highly desirable.
