Summary:
The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and overseeing construction projects from start to finish. This role involves managing documentation, coordinating subcontractors, assisting with budgeting, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, proactive, and have strong communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain project timelines. They are looking for an Assistant Project Manager who is looking to become a Project Manager in the next year or so. Ideally, this person has commercial construction experience but not a requirement.
Responsibilities:
- Project Coordination: Assist in planning and organizing all aspects of the project, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Documentation Management: Maintain up-to-date project documents, including contracts, RFIs, submittals, and change orders, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Subcontractor Coordination: Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and execution of work; help address any issues or delays.
- Budget Tracking: Monitor project expenses and report any variances to the Project Manager. Assist in preparing cost estimates and tracking change orders.
- Scheduling Support: Help develop and manage project schedules, ensuring adherence to timelines, identifying potential delays, and coordinating mitigation efforts.
- Safety and Compliance: Support the implementation of safety and quality control programs, ensuring that all work is performed according to regulatory and company standards.
- Problem Solving: Proactively identify and address project challenges, coordinating with the Project Manager and team members to resolve issues efficiently.
- Client Communication: Serve as a point of contact for clients when the Project Manager is unavailable, providing updates on project progress and addressing any concerns.
Requirements:
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred. 4+ years of experience in project management or relevant construction roles for a general contractor.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with construction methods, project documentation, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Projects: Commercial projects
- Skills: Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project) and MS Office Suite.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong ability to troubleshoot project challenges and adapt to changes.
