Job Description
A reputable healthcare organization in Georgia is seeking a knowledgeable and driven Director of Nursing – Surgical Services to lead its surgical department. This position is ideal for a nurse leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to advancing clinical quality, operational efficiency, and team development.
Department Overview:
- 3 Operating Rooms, including a dedicated GI suite
- Over 2,300 procedures performed annually
- Includes advanced da Vinci robotic-assisted surgeries
- 21 Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs) within the department
- High-volume service lines include General Surgery, Robotics, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Gynecology, and Pain Management
Position Summary:
The Director of Nursing will be responsible for the overall leadership and daily operations of the Surgical Services department. This includes managing clinical staff, optimizing patient flow, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing the patient experience across all perioperative areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical and operational leadership for surgical services, including pre-op, intra-op, and post-op care
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of nurses and support staff
- Collaborate with physicians and administrative leaders to ensure high-quality surgical outcomes
- Oversee scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation for optimal department performance
- Lead initiatives to improve safety, satisfaction, and efficiency
- Maintain compliance with state, federal, and accrediting body regulations
Qualifications:
- Active RN license in the state of Georgia (or compact eligible)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; MSN or related leadership degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of perioperative nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Strong understanding of surgical workflows, staffing, and clinical best practices
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and implement process improvements
