Job Description

About the Company

Our client is a fully integrated developer, headquartered in downtown Chicago, delivering high-impact residential and commercial projects throughout the city. Their in-house expertise spans real estate management, development, and construction, allowing them to control every phase of a project — from concept through completion.

Their portfolio includes multifamily high-rises and mid-rises, mixed-use developments, commercial interiors, restaurants, and build-outs. They’re a major player in the market, but retain a collaborative, family-style culture where leadership is accessible and talent is genuinely valued.

This is a rare opportunity to grow your career in a setting that combines the resources of a large-scale developer with the agility and mentorship of a tightly connected team.

About the Role

We are hiring a Construction Project Manager with experience managing multifamily residential projects, especially mid-rise or high-rise developments in urban environments. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on, thrives in a fast-paced collaborative environment, and wants exposure to both construction execution and development strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution of multifamily residential and mixed-use projects.
  • Oversee all phases of construction — from preconstruction and permitting to closeout and turnover.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders (development, design, property management) and external partners (architects, engineers, consultants).
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, contract administration, and project financials.
  • Monitor progress and proactively address issues related to schedule, cost, quality, or logistics.
  • Coordinate with superintendents and field staff to ensure daily site operations meet expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with all city regulations, safety standards, and permitting requirements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders through regular updates, reporting, and site meetings.
  • Identify and implement value engineering opportunities and process improvements.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of experience in construction project management, with a strong focus on multifamily projects (high-rise or mid-rise experience highly preferred).
  • Prior experience working with or for a developer is a major plus.
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction means, methods, codes, and urban logistics.
  • Ability to manage large budgets, multiple subcontractors, and tight schedules in high-density settings.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, Excel).
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.

Why Join This Team?

  • Work for a developer-builder that’s shaping the future of Chicago's skyline.
  • Be part of a collaborative team where your voice is heard, and leadership is highly accessible.
  • Gain exposure to both construction and real estate development, with room to grow in either direction.
  • Enjoy a family-oriented culture with the support, benefits, and stability of a leading industry player.
