Role Overview
As a Senior Estimator on their preconstruction team, you'll be instrumental in leading cost-development efforts for complex hard-bid, negotiated, and design-build opportunities within our core sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead preparation of conceptual through detailed estimates, including quantity take-offs, labor, material, and subcontractor pricing
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and existing conditions to develop accurate cost models
- Identify project risk and propose mitigating contingency or value-engineering options
- Solicit, review, and compare subcontractor bids, ensuring completeness and alignment with scope
- Maintain and refine historical cost databases and unit-rate libraries
- Collaborate with business development, project management, and field teams to set budget strategies and support proposal presentations
- Manage multiple bid pursuits concurrently with tight deadlines
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
- 10+ years estimating experience within commercial or institutional general contracting
- Proficiency in industry-standard estimating tools (e.g., Sage Estimating, WinEst)
- Solid understanding of construction means and methods across diverse sectors—federal, healthcare, industrial, office, retail, multifamily, JOC, and specialty
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities
- Proven capability to work in fast-paced, collaborative estimating environments
Preferred Experience
- Experience with federal or government projects (e.g., armed forces, municipal facilities)
- Familiarity with specialized project types such as laboratories, command centers, or institutionally critical infrastructure
- Design-build and value-engineering expertise
