Healthcare Team Collaboration

This CIC certified position involves direct collaboration with key hospital departments and healthcare professionals. You will work closely with the Chief Quality Officer and nursing leadership on policy development, while partnering with physicians and staff on infection control protocols.

Daily interactions include ICU nurses and critical care teams for high-risk patient infection prevention, emergency department staff for outbreak response, and operating room teams for surgical site infection prevention. Collaboration extends to laboratory personnel and microbiology technicians for specimen analysis, environmental services for facility cleaning protocols, and pharmacy teams for antimicrobial stewardship programs.

Additional partnerships involve risk management and patient safety officers for adverse event investigations, occupational health nurses for staff exposure management, and quality assurance teams for data analysis. Medical staff interactions include infectious disease physicians, epidemiologists, unit managers, and charge nurses across all hospital departments.

Key Responsibilities

Implement infection prevention programs across all hospital units while monitoring healthcare-associated infections including CLABSI, CAUTI, and SSI rates. Participate in outbreak investigations with physicians and public health officials, maintaining infection control dashboards and healthcare quality metrics.

Develop infection control education for nurses, physicians, and healthcare workers. Train OR staff on surgical site infection prevention and educate ICU nurses on central line and catheter care protocols.

Required Qualifications

Masters degree in Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, Microbiology, or healthcare-related field required. CIC Certification in Infection Control is mandatory. California RN license preferred for nursing positions.

Minimum 2 years healthcare experience in hospital or clinical settings with 1+ years in infection prevention, infection control, or clinical quality. ICU experience, OR experience, or critical care background preferred.
