Job Description

A leading healthcare facility in Houston is seeking a Director of Nursing to oversee its Women’s Services departments, including Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, Postpartum, and NICU. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced nurse leader with a strong perinatal background and a passion for delivering exceptional patient experiences and clinical outcomes.

Department Overview:

  • 12 Labor & Delivery Suites
  • 5 Operating Rooms dedicated to obstetric procedures
  • 4 Antepartum Beds for high-risk pregnancy care
  • 36 Postpartum and NICU Beds supporting maternal and neonatal recovery

Position Summary:

The Director of Nursing will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Women’s Services division, with a focus on patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and team development. The role involves close collaboration with physicians, executive leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality maternal and neonatal care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations and long-term planning for the Labor and Delivery unit
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Lead initiatives to improve patient outcomes, staff engagement, and performance metrics
  • Manage staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation effectively
  • Mentor and develop nursing staff, fostering growth and retention

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license in Texas (or compact state eligibility)
  • BSN required; Master’s in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in maternal-child health
  • Strong clinical background in labor and delivery, antepartum, postpartum, and NICU
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and implement quality improvement strategies
