The Clinical Oncology Nurse provides comprehensive support—from chemotherapy administration and symptom management to patient education and emotional care—ensuring every patient and family feels supported throughout their treatment journey. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments in-person and by phone; document clinical findings
  • Administer chemotherapy, infusions, transfusions, and physician-directed treatments following established protocols
  • Provide central line care, wound care, oral care, and other specialized nursing interventions
  • Monitor and respond to clinical changes and escalate care when necessary
  • Participate in interdisciplinary planning, care coordination, and patient case reviews

Patient Education & Advocacy:

  • Deliver verbal and written education to patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and supportive care
  • Document teaching activities and patient responses in the EMR
  • Serve as a patient advocate, promoting self-management and informed participation in care decisions

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Foster a respectful, supportive environment for patients, families, and staff
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurse managers, and care teams to ensure optimal outcomes
  • Attend team meetings and contribute to ongoing professional development

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain cleanliness, stock, and organization of treatment areas and medication rooms
  • Track supplies and monitor expiration dates
  • Comply with OSHA and clinic safety standards
  • Participate in equipment and billing system use (e.g., Lynx)

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; current California RN license required
  • Minimum two (2) years of clinical nursing experience, with at least six (6) months in oncology
  • OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification preferred
