Job Description

Our client a mid-sized law firm in Bergan County NJ. This is a temporary, full onsite position, with direct hire opportunity for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate should have 4 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file arbitration-related documents including demands, petitions, awards, and writs.
  • Maintain and update case databases and client billing records.
  • Attend client meetings, draft meeting minutes, and manage ongoing legal communications.
  • Submit OPRA and FOIL requests as needed.
  • Draft, finalize, and electronically file legal documents, including motions, petition, certifications, notices of appearance, orders, and proofs of claim.
  • Accurately record and enter billable hours for client matters in accordance with firm policies and billing guidelines.
  • File unfair labor practice charges with the NLRB and prepare supporting documentation.
  • Calendar legal deadlines and prepare attorney expense reports.
  • Communicate with Union signatories; manage delinquency issues, settlements, and payment monitoring.
  • Prepare bond claims, bankruptcy filings, and related documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Familiarity with New Jersey court systems and e-filing procedures
  • Experience in a law firm or legal environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis)
  • Strong critical thinking and multitasking skills
  • Paralegal from an ABA-approved program (no certification required)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
