Job Description

A respected community hospital in San Bernardino County is seeking a strong clinical leader to oversee its Maternal Child Health services. This department includes Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Nursery, and other perinatal services central to the hospital’s commitment to family-centered care.

The Nurse Director will be responsible for strategic and operational oversight, clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and team development. This is a key leadership role, ideal for someone with a passion for maternal and newborn health, strong administrative skills, and the ability to drive quality outcomes in a dynamic hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

Department Leadership

  • Lead and mentor nursing teams to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Serve as a clinical role model, promoting professional development and accountability.
  • Oversee departmental staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and Joint Commission standards.
  • Lead performance improvement and patient safety initiatives across MCH services.
  • Develop and implement policies to meet evolving care standards and best practices.

Operational & Financial Oversight

  • Manage department budget, resource utilization, and operational goals.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to align maternal-child health strategies with hospital priorities.
  • Monitor KPIs and adjust departmental plans to ensure efficiency and sustainability.

Team Collaboration & Culture

  • Foster a positive, inclusive work environment with a focus on patient-centered care.
  • Act as a liaison between nursing leadership, physicians, and administration.
  • Support staff in achieving high levels of satisfaction, engagement, and clinical performance.

Qualifications

  • Current California RN license (required)
  • Current CPR certification (required)
  • Minimum 5 years of RN experience, with at least 2 years in a manager or director-level leadership role
  • Demonstrated experience with maternal-child health nursing
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and hospital operations
