Our client, a leading organization in the scientific and medical publishing space, is seeking an experienced Publications Marketing Specialist to support strategic promotional campaigns and drive engagement across a portfolio of scholarly publications.
Overview:
The Publications Marketing Specialist plays a key role in executing integrated marketing strategies designed to increase awareness, readership, and submissions for a variety of scientific publications and educational products. This position collaborates with marketing leadership, editorial teams, and external vendors to create compelling campaigns, analyze performance metrics, and enhance the visibility of the organization’s publishing portfolio in the hematology field.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing & Campaign Execution:
- Support the development and implementation of comprehensive marketing plans for a portfolio of scientific journals and educational resources.
- Execute multi-channel campaigns across email, web, social media, and print to engage current and prospective readers, authors, and reviewers.
- Monitor performance metrics and provide insights to optimize campaigns and inform future strategies.
- Coordinate marketing initiatives with internal communications to ensure alignment with broader organizational messaging.
Email & Digital Marketing:
- Write and edit persuasive copy for targeted email campaigns.
- Build and schedule email journeys using marketing automation tools, including list segmentation and compliance with GDPR and related standards.
- Maintain the marketing email calendar and ensure accurate distribution to all audiences.
Social Media & Digital Presence:
- Partner with digital specialists to create and schedule social media content across LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Instagram, and other platforms.
- Track engagement and performance, providing regular reports and recommendations for growth.
- Stay current on emerging social media trends to maintain a strong online presence.
External Vendor Coordination & Event Support:
- Collaborate with external designers and vendors to produce marketing assets and manage distribution lists.
- Assist with planning and executing promotional activities at industry conferences and annual meetings, including preparation of giveaways and on-site representation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, English, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in marketing, preferably within scientific, medical, or nonprofit publishing.
- Strong writing and editing skills with a focus on marketing copy.
- Experience with email marketing platforms (Salesforce Marketing Cloud preferred) and automation best practices.
- Proficiency in social media management and reporting; Hootsuite experience a plus.
- Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office; basic HTML/XML and graphic design (Canva) are advantageous.
- Familiarity with Google Analytics and project management tools (Wrike preferred).
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for industry events and conferences.
