Job Description

Inpatient Clinical Documentation Integrity (ICDI) Specialist – Remote (U.S. Based)

💵 Pay Rate: $66/hour

📍 Location: Remote – Must reside in the United States

📍 Client Location: Rochester, MN (200 1st St SW, 55902)

Schedule:

  • Days: Friday through Tuesday (includes weekends and holidays)
  • Hours: 40 hours/week | 8 hours/day
  • Note: Mandatory overtime as needed

Position Overview:

The ICDI Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring accurate documentation of patient medical records in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This position supports proper coding, reflects the severity of illness, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards. You’ll collaborate with physicians, coding teams, case management, and other healthcare professionals to improve documentation quality and completeness.

This is a 100% remote role, offering flexibility to work from anywhere within the U.S.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review medical records to ensure accurate representation of severity of illness and risk of mortality.
  • Validate coding for medical necessity and complexity of care.
  • Identify documentation gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate documentation modifications.
  • Educate and support physicians and allied health staff on documentation best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations and coding standards.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an ICDI role with concurrent review responsibilities.
  • Recent experience in a production role within the last 12 months.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Flexible availability including evenings and weekends.

Education & Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must hold one of the following credentials:
    • RHIT, RHIA, RN, RRT, CCS, CCS-P, or MD (Domestic or International)
  • Certification Required:
    • CDIP (Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner) or
    • CCDS (Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist)
