Job Description

Overview

  • Lead and manage the Surgery Services department in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Collaborate with a tight-knit community in a Level II Trauma Hospital.
  • Ensure high-quality patient care and nursing practice on a 24-hour basis.
  • Opportunity to work in a facility with 12 operating rooms and advanced resources.
  • Contribute to program development and unit performance improvement initiatives.
  • Exempt position with an 8-hour day shift schedule for optimal work-life balance.
  • Support and mentor staff to achieve operational and quality objectives.
  • Work closely with experienced professionals in a collaborative healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee daily operations and staff performance in the Surgery Services department.
  • Monitor quality of procedures and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance patient care and nursing practices.
  • Collaborate with the Nurse Manager and Director to achieve departmental goals.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff, fostering professional growth and development.
  • Participate in quality improvement processes and financial management initiatives.
  • Assume duties of the Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse when required.
  • Ensure effective communication and problem-solving within the team and department.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; advanced education preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience; 2 years preferred.
  • Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing mandatory.
  • Certifications in CPR, ACLS, and PALS required; CNOR preferred.
  • Proficiency in quality improvement, financial management, and human resources processes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills essential.
  • Experience in perioperative services or procedural areas highly valued.
  • Ability to motivate, delegate, and lead a team effectively.
