Overview
- Support a nationwide creditor-focused bankruptcy practice with document preparation, filing, and service in federal bankruptcy courts.
- Assist attorneys with case management, including calendar tracking, deadline monitoring, and critical date management for complex Chapter 11 cases.
- Prepare and file proofs of claim, track claims, and assist with claims reconciliation processes for bankruptcy cases.
- Draft and file court documents, including retention and fee applications, ensuring compliance with local rules and procedures.
- Coordinate hearing preparation and support, including arranging appearances and preparing hearing materials.
- Conduct market research, investigation, and fact-checking to support bankruptcy and restructuring transactions.
- Develop and maintain time records for billable hours, review bills, and prepare tracking files for fee applications.
- Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and professionals to discuss cases, projects, and client development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Prepare, file, and serve pleadings while managing case calendars and task lists for bankruptcy cases.
- Understand and analyze local rules and procedures to assist attorneys with case management.
- Draft court documents such as retention and fee applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor case dockets to identify, summarize, and circulate relevant pleadings and updates.
- Coordinate hearing preparation, including arranging appearances and preparing necessary materials.
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation and respond to creditor inquiries effectively.
- Perform market research and fact-checking to support bankruptcy and restructuring transactions.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive information.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of relevant bankruptcy experience, preferably 6 years.
- Strong knowledge of electronic filing systems, including CM/ECF, and familiarity with fundamental bankruptcy concepts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint and Excel, with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to manage case calendars, task lists, and critical date trackers effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in drafting court documents, including retention and fee applications.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and good judgment in all tasks.
- Hybrid work arrangement with in-office days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
