Job Description

Overview

  • Lead-level Medical Lab Technologist role focusing on advanced diagnostic testing and team collaboration.
  • Perform complex chemical and biological testing for disease detection and treatment.
  • Collaborate with laboratory teams to ensure accurate and timely testing services.
  • Maintain and operate laboratory instruments, ensuring proper functionality and troubleshooting issues.
  • Assist in training and orientation of new technical staff, monitoring their progress.
  • Participate in the development and evaluation of new laboratory procedures and methods.
  • Ensure adherence to laboratory protocols and quality control standards.
  • Adjust schedule as needed to meet organizational demands and priorities.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing.
  • Perform moderate and high-complexity lab procedures per established standards.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of technical procedures and instrument operations.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot instrument and reagent issues, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Conduct quality control procedures and analyze data for trends or problems.
  • Support training and development of technical staff, serving as a resource.
  • Resolve specimen issues and escalate unresolved matters to supervisors.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of new laboratory methods.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology, chemistry, biology, or related life science.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience as a Medical Lab Technologist.
  • State licensure where applicable (CA, FL, NY require licensing).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Proficiency in mathematical, computer, reasoning, and language skills.
  • Ability to pass a colorblind test for accurate specimen analysis.
  • Preferred ASCP or other national certification.
