Job Description

Overview

  • Lead and manage surgical nursing services, ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with healthcare standards.
  • Supervise and support a team of nursing professionals in a dynamic surgical department.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and safety.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Participate in strategic planning and budget management for the surgical unit.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development among staff.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards within the surgical department.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Supervise nursing staff, ensuring adherence to clinical standards and protocols.
  • Coordinate patient care activities, optimizing resource allocation and workflow.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient care plans for effectiveness and compliance.
  • Facilitate staff participation in shared governance and decision-making processes.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide mentorship to nursing personnel.
  • Ensure proper documentation and safekeeping of controlled medications.
  • Develop and deliver educational programs to enhance staff competencies.
  • Investigate and resolve incidents, complaints, and suggestions from stakeholders.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical and supervisory experience; 5 years preferred.
  • Current RN license in good standing; BLS certification required.
  • Proficiency in computer systems for record-keeping and data analysis.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage budgets and develop strategic plans for the unit.
  • Experience in infection prevention and compliance with healthcare standards.
