Job Description

Overview

  • Provide exceptional care to patients in a Med Surg unit, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive healthcare services in a dynamic environment.
  • Utilize advanced nursing practices to address diverse patient needs and promote recovery.
  • Educate patients and families on health management and post-discharge care strategies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring patient responses and adjusting care plans accordingly.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care strategies.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments to identify patient needs and prioritize interventions.
  • Document patient care activities accurately in electronic medical records systems.
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care measures.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational standards at all times.
  • Advocate for patient rights and provide emotional support during challenging situations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution is required.
  • Current RN licensure in Illinois or Michigan with active status.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification required prior to start date.
  • Preferred: One year of RN experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Basic proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds and perform physical tasks as needed.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to participate in quality improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
